Black Humanities Project
Black Humanities Project (BHP) is a student-led initiative based at the University of East Anglia. It was started in 2020 by a group of students in the school of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing with the aim of decolonising the curriculum and demanding more representation within the department.
BHP collaborates with UEA Outreach and schools in Norfolk to achieve its aim of inspiring young ethnically diverse students to consider Arts and Humanities subjects in higher education.
Through workshops delivered to school students, BHP has, over the years, provided schools with opportunities to participate in the Arts and Humanities by exposing, exploring and empowering black humanities.

Our Stories. Our Voices.
Our Stories, Our Voices, are celebrations of voice, identity and creativity that showcase the talent of the young people who carry a world within them.
Their content comes from workshops run by Black Humanities Project, designed to introduce young people from Black and minority backgrounds to the possibilities and empowerment that the arts and humanities can offer.
Egg Box has collated the work from these workshops, from drawing, poetry, collage, prose and more, into an anthology that they can share with friends and family.

Zine Workshop Resource
The Black Humanities Project inspires and support educators to offer a more diverse curriculum. We have collaborated with BHP to make a workshop for KS3-5 students, designed to be used in classrooms.
Taking inspiration from past workshops run by Black Humanities Project, as well as considering the aims of the project - to expose, explore and empower - we've made resources for a character creation zine-making workshop. These resources are free to download and use.
