Everything is translation. This was both a running joke and
shared conviction of the MALT 2025 cohort. From shuffling
a pack of cards to turning a painting into a poem, they have
come to see translation everywhere. Now, with translations
from Ancient Greek, Japanese, French, Taiwanese Mandarin,
Italian and Vietnamese, this collection showcases their work
across drama, prose and poetry.

Rooted in the innerworkings of language and its complex effect
on the reader, poetry and translation share much in common.
This year’s anthology offers a wide range of experiments with
voice, form and language. From elegy to ecopoetry, humour to
history, the bodily to the technological, the poetry collected
here is rich and diverse with something for everybody. Read
