Daniel Kane was born in New York city and grew up in Manila, Philippines; Mexico city, Mexico; London, England; Tenafly, New Jersey; and New York City. He is currently a senior lecturer in American literature at the university of Sussex, Brighton, England.

Martin Figura was born in Liverpool in 1956. He joined the army aged fiteen, leaving as a Major in 1997, after twenty-five years, to become a photographer, which is what he still is. He is currently doing an MA in Writing the Visual at Norwich School of Art and Design.

He is a member of the performance group The Joy of Six, with whom he has performed across the world. He is the author of _This Man's Army_, a collection of photographs (Dewi Lewis Publishing), which contains a foreward by Billy Bragg. He also wrote _The Little Book of Harm_ (Firewater Press) which sold widely and has been reprinted three times.

Ramona Herdman was born in 1978. She has lived in Devon, Staffordshire and Norfolk, and has worked as a waitress, ice-cream lady, telemarketer and civil servant. She has completed a BA and MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. Her poems have been published in Envoi, Staple, The Rialto, Thumbscrew, Reactions, Pretext, and the old Egg Box Magazine.

Richard Evans grew up in Hastings. He began his poetry career young, reading at The National Poetry Festival at the age of eleven, and printing his first book in the same year. He has been published in many magazines and anthologies, including Fire, Exile, Unica, Write Here Write Now, Breathe, Forward Press and The Egg Box. He attended the prestigious creative writing course, established by Malcolm Bradbury, at the University of East Anglia.

Camilla Stapleton-Hibbert
, whose photographs appear in Richard's book, was tipped as one of the most talented photographers of her generation and had many photographs exhibited and published. She was enrolled in the world-renowned photography course in Falmouth, and was an apprentice to the photographer Steve Pike. Sadly, Camilla took her own life on November 8, 2003.
